My first Experince with the Flipped Classroom

I became interested in the flipped classroom after attending a seminar where all participants were given “homework” prior to the seminar. During the seminar, participants were divided into groups to discuss assigned topics and present to the group. Hands-on activities (concept mapping and song development) engaged the learners and supported the concepts being taught at the seminar. It was after the seminar that I decided to flip the Nursing Research class I was teaching at the time. I have been using the flipped classroom concept for over two years now and feedback from students is positive.

Comments on course evaluations include:
"This class was great. I looked forward to coming to class instead of dreading a two hour lecture.”
“I was never bored and I learned more by participating in the hands-on activities.”
“I wish all my classes were flipped!”
“I feel like I can apply the concepts I learned to real-world problems.”

What feedback do you get from your students regarding their experience with flipped learning?

Thank you,
Diana
